The IDC Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker states, The shipments of smartphone worldwide attained 136 million units, accounting for 75 % of the 181.1 million smartphones shipped in the 3rd quarter of 2012. The 91.5 % year-over-year accretion was almost double the overall market accretion rate of 46.4 %. And￯﾿ᆵ￯ᄒ﾿￯ᄒツ￯﾿ᆵ￯ᄒᄒ￯ᄒᅠhaving summit the 100 million unit sign last quarter, attained a new record level in a single quarter.

The Android’s complete volumes for the quarter were larger than the total no of smartphones shipped in 2007, officially placarded year of Android smartphones.
